2017 NV Sports Goalkeeper Camp

NV Sports Events and Dan Schell Goalkeeper Academy present the 2017 NV Sports Goalkeeper Camp December 16-17th, 2017.  Join us for two days of action-packed, high intensity goalkeeper training for ages 9 to 18.  The kids will have fun, hone age appropriate skills and head back to their clubs or teams sharper than ever!  This event is open to boys and girls (experienced and inexperienced) interested in high quality goalkeeper training.  The registration payment of $175 includes two full days of training and a custom goalie jersey like no other!

Dan Schell is in his seventh year on the UNLV Rebel staff, including a one-year break before returning to the team in 2013. Schell was key in the develop of former Rebel goalkeeper Ryan Harding, who would finish his career with first-team All-WAC and NSCAA All-West Region honors in 2014.

While he was away from UNLV, Schell was promoted to the Head Goalkeeping Coach for Region IV Boys Olympic Development Program (ODP). He has been a part of the Region IV staff since 2005 as a staff coach and an assistant age group coach. Coach Schell is also the Head coach for South West Gunner FC (SWGFC) a small independent group of teams that receive a college prespective of soccer education. Prior to this he was the Goalkeeping Director for Heat FC (2011-2013), Nuesport FC (2008-2011), as well as the Goalkeeping coach for FC Portland (2004-2008).

Before returning to Las Vegas in 2008, Schell spent four seasons as the goalkeeper coach for both the University of Portland men’s and women’s teams. During Schell’s inaugural season in charge of the Portland goalkeeper, then-sophomore Luis Robles (current starter for the NY Red Bulls) earned third team All-Far West Region honors from the NSCAA, while on the women’s side, the Pilots posted 42 shutouts during Schell’s tenure, and Corrie Alexander would go on to earn All-America honors under Schell’s coaching as well as a National Championship in 2005.

Schell, currently a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and the United States Soccer Federation, served as head coach of both the boys and girls teams at Chaparral High School in Las Vegas. He earned Regional Coach of the Year honors in 1998-99 after leading both his boys and girls teams to their respective Nevada State Championships, the first ever in Nevada State history to win titles in both boy’s and girl’s soccer in the same season under the same head coach. A five-time Nevada State Coach of the Year selection, three with the boys and two with the girls, Schell also guided his Alliance Football Club boys team to four state titles from 1996-99. He also coached the Premier S.C. and United Boys clubs to six state championships.

In his career at UNLV (1990-94), he earned All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation honorable mention as a goalkeeper in 1992. He sits in second place all-time at UNLV in both saves and shutouts with 89 and six, respectively. His 228 career saves also rank third in Rebel history.
